The Dolphin Lounge

The Dolphin Lounge occupies a singular place in Columbus blues history. Since the 1980s, its long-running blues jam has provided a stage where generations of musicians could meet, learn, experiment, and become part of the community. For many players, a night at the Dolphin was both an introduction to the blues and a practical education in how to perform it with others.

The jam’s hosts have included Ric Boals, Patrick McLaughlin, Mike Dudley, Thom StillWild, Chris White, Brandon Crawford, and other respected local musicians. Through changing lineups and eras, the Dolphin remained a dependable home for the music—one where newcomers could sit in beside veterans and where bands and friendships often began. Its induction recognizes a venue whose contribution cannot be measured only in shows, but in the many musicians and audiences it helped nurture.
