Dan Axt

Inducted 2019

Dan Axt

Dan Axt helped give Central Ohio blues a public voice. As a broadcaster, writer, organizer, and early supporter of the Columbus Blues Alliance, he introduced listeners to the depth of the music, championed local performers, and helped connect a scattered community of fans and musicians.

Axt’s radio work treated the blues as a living tradition rather than a museum piece. He placed Columbus artists in conversation with the masters who influenced them and used interviews, recordings, and informed commentary to build a larger audience for the scene. His steady advocacy also supported the Alliance during its formative years. Axt’s induction recognizes the lasting value of careful listening, historical knowledge, and the willingness to use a microphone to help an entire community be heard.
