Mark May

Born in Central Ohio and long based in Texas, Mark May has built a national reputation while maintaining strong ties to the Columbus blues community. A powerful guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader, he has recorded a substantial catalog under his own name and developed a style that brings blues tradition together with soul, rock, and Texas grit.

May collaborated with the Dave Absalom Project, the Soul Satyr Horns, and many other Ohio musicians, while his work in Texas placed him on stages and recordings with leading players from that region. His national credits include recording and performing with Dickey Betts. A winner of blues challenges in Columbus, elsewhere in Ohio, and Houston, May has represented his musical communities with distinction. His career shows how deeply the Central Ohio blues tradition can travel while remaining connected to home.
